it’d woken him up — The feeling that something was… Missing. He sat up with a jolt, looking around. Castiel was gone. “Cas?” He called out into the house, green gaze looking around the room. His hunter’s instinct kicked in before anything else, and the winged hunter went tense; hand sliding under his pillow to grab his gun.
That was when he noticed it — The empty feeling. He closed his eyes for a moment, face scrunching up when he couldn’t feel that pull of Castiel’s grace — Or… Castiel at all. It was just gone, all of it. The love, the acceptance, the protection. Dean’s eyes shot open and he sucked in a choked breath. Why couldn’t he feel his Angel? His mate? “Cas? Castiel!” He called out again, getting up off of the bed.
He moved to the door as he pulled his shirt on, gun still in hand. Looking down the stairs, he realized it was quiet and dark in the house. “CAS!” He bellowed down the stairs, flicking on the light to look around as he went down the stairs.
The house was quiet and empty — No sign that Castiel was there — Or that he’d ever been there. Panic began to set it, and Dean swallowed, closing his eyes and praying with all his might for his Angel to appear. When nothing happened he made a broken sound before moving outside, bellowing into the night air with all the lungpower the Hunter could muster.
He sank to the ground when he’d screamed himself hoarse, knees digging into the muddy ground; grip loose around the gun in his hand.
“Am I…supposed to remember anything?” asked Cas, appearing a little confused. Seriously who was this person- this, Dean that supposedly knew him. Maybe better than himself right now.
“I…” He watched Castiel for a long moment, not sure if he should tell him. He looked away, scrubbing his hand down his face before looking back. “I… Well, yeah. I mean… Cas, you have a… A family.” He swallowed, forcing himself to look neutral as he spoke. “And friends. You really remember nothing?”

Cas tilted his head back and took in his upper lip with his lower teeth, trying to think- if he could even recall the name. “I’m sorry, I guess I don’t really know you,” he gave a nervous chuckle and scratched the back of his head, “But it’s nice to meet you, Dean.”
Dean’s gaze fell to the floor, wings drawing further against his back. “Do… Do you remember anything?” He asked, gaze finally lifting back to Castiel. His Castiel. His Angel. Who he couldn’t feel anymore. And, when he thought about, Dean realized he couldn’t even sense Castiel’s Grace anymore. The only Grace he could feel was the piece embedded in the scar on his shoulder.

Cas gave a weird expression, he really didn’t know who this was. “A-ahah…if your name is Me, it’s nice to meet you,” he chuckled a little at his own joke. But how did this person know his name? Maybe he knew it well like the “great arch angel Gabriel” he was speaking to. This reality was very strange…
“What… Cas… It’s — You don’t remember me?” He swallowed again, feeling his lower lip trembling like it did when he wasn’t sure how to react. “It’s Dean…”

Cas jumped a little and looked to the door seeing the man standing there and wearing a concerned look. “That is my name, yes…can I help you?” he asked, stopping his motion and raising an eyebrow.
Dean had to swallow a sudden lump in his throat, wings pressed flat to his back. “Cas… It’s me,” He said softly, brows furrowing in worry. Why’s he acting like this? He tucked his hands into his pockets, worrying his lower lip between his teeth.
